Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent for millions of Christians around the world. It’s a day rooted in reflection, humility, and renewal. Traditionally, worshippers receive ashes on their foreheads as a symbol of repentance and the reminder that life is fragile and meaningful. At Haskins Hideout Cigar and Bourbon Lounge, we respect the significance of the day. It is a time for personal reflection, gratitude, and intention. And while we always keep that reverence in mind, we also believe there’s room for a little lighthearted community fun inside the lounge.
So in the spirit of Ash Wednesday, we’re hosting a contest that’s perfectly on theme.
🔥 The Longest Ash Challenge
Here’s how it works:
- Light up your favorite cigar; build the longest ash you can without it dropping
- Take a photo of your masterpiece
- Upload it to the Haskins Hideout Facebook Page - look for the contest post
- Make sure it’s posted before 8pm Thursday
We'll select two winners: One winner will receive $25 to use toward cigars at Haskins Hideout (if your photo is taken while you're enjoying the cigar in our lounge); One winner will receive $15 to use toward cigars at Haskins Hideout (if the photo is taken anywhere else). Yes, we’re talking about ash. But this time, the goal is to keep it intact.
The Rules
- Entries must be uploaded before 8pm Thursday
- The ash must still be attached to the cigar in the photo - upload in the comments on our Facebook Page under the contest post
- $25 credit for best ash picture taken inside Haskins Hideout Cigar and Bourbon Lounge
- $15 credit for best ash picture taken anywhere else
- Keep it classy and have fun
Whether you observe Ash Wednesday religiously, use the season for personal growth, or simply appreciate the symbolism of the day, this is a great excuse to gather with friends, enjoy a premium cigar, and maybe show off a little patience and skill.
Longest ash wins. Gravity is undefeated. Let’s see who holds out the longest.
We’ll see you in the lounge.
