WATCH: 13ABC Hittin' The Town at Haskins Hideout Cigar and Bourbon Lounge

Thanks to 13ABC for coming out for their "Hittin' The Town" segment last week.

HASKINS, Ohio (WTVG) - We all love to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, even if it’s just for a few hours. There’s a place in Wood County where you can do just that. The small Wood County village of Haskins is the home of a good place to explore the art of smoking cigars and sipping bourbon.

Jamie Wietrzykowski is the owner of the Haskins Hideout Cigar and Bourbon Lounge.

“When I was thinking of a name, I wanted to be very specific, so people would know where they’re going and what we are offering. So now you know we are in Haskins at a cigar lounge that offers bourbon. It’s all in the title,” Wietrzykowski said. “I’ve smoked cigars since I was 18. It’s a hobby, a vice, something I enjoy. Later in life, I said, ‘Let’s turn my hobby and my vice into a small business."

And there’s been a big response to this small business. Suzy Thatcher is the general manager.

“People come from all over. I had a couple of guys in the other day who drove more than two hours because they said there is nothing like this where they’re from. We’re in the middle of nowhere, but that’s what’s great about it,” Thatcher said.

Wietrzykowski says you don’t need to have experience smoking cigars. The staff will help you select one. The cigars come in all shapes, sizes and flavors.

“When you inhale a cigar, you get the flavor of the tobacco leaf. So you can tell if it’s spicy, sweet or mild. All those notes will be on your tongue. It’s just like a glass of good wine,” Wietrzykowski said.

The so-called sticks also last for different amounts of time.

“When you light up a cigar, a short one lasts for about 30 minutes, a long one is about an hour and a half. That’s one cigar,” Wietrzykowski said.

And if you think cigars and bourbon are just for men, think again.

“We were so surprised by all the women coming in that we made a whole wall in the humidor of flavored cigars for the ladies,” Thatcher said.

“On weekends, we have more women in here than any cigar lounge I’ve been in in Northwest Ohio or Southeast Michigan,” Wietrzykowski said.

If cigars and bourbon aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other entertainment options to pair with your trip to Haskins.

“We have three pinball games and an arcade game. We have Golden Tee with an 80-inch TV. There is also a full golf simulator in the back of the house, so you can play Pebble Beach and do 18 holes at a cigar lounge,” Wietrzykowski said.

“You can sit in a recliner, watch television. They are heated and they massage you too, so you just melt away,” Thatcher said.

The lounge is not limited to members only.

“We have public hours on our website and you can be a VIP member and have 24/7 access,” Wietrzykowski said.

“If you come in during public hours to buy a drink, you are required to buy a cigar. If you don’t want it, you can give it to a friend or donate it to us. We have partnered with Cigars for Warriors and when we collect a box, we send it overseas to active military members,” Thatcher said.

In addition to the bourbon offerings, there is also a full-service bar. We’re also told that coffee pairs well with a cigar. There are also specialty coffee machines at the Haskins Hideout.

When it comes to the cigars, there’s a wide price range starting around five bucks a stick. There’s even a cigar vending machine.
